(Elizabethtown, KY) – As Scotty’s Contracting nears completion this fall on the I65 rehabilitation project from Exit 91 to Milepoint 98, several closures are required to accommodate scheduled work.

On Wednesday night (September 19th), the eastbound Western Kentucky Parkway ramp to southbound I65 will be closed at 8pm for asphalt milling and paving operations. This work will be complete and the ramp will reopen by 6am Thursday. Traffic will detour around the cloverleaf ramps at the I65 / Western Kentucky Parkway interchange to access southbound I65.

On Thursday night (September 20th), the westbound Western Kentucky Parkway ramp to southbound I65 will be closed at 8pm for asphalt milling and paving operations. This work will be complete and the ramp will reopen by 6am Friday. Traffic will detour by continuing westbound on Western Kentucky Parkway to Exit 133 (Ring Road) and backtrack eastbound on Western Kentucky Parkway for access to southbound I65.

On Friday night (September 21st), Exit 91 from Southbound I65 will be closed at 9pm. The closure will remain in place until Wednesday morning (September 26th) at 6am for bridge/asphalt work. Southbound I65 motorists will not be able to access US 31W or Western Kentucky Parkway from the Exit 91 interchange during the closure. Northbound I65 access to Exit 91 will remain open.   Southbound I65 motorists needing access to Exit 91 are advised to continue south to Exit 86 (Glendale) and backtrack north on I65 to Exit 91. With divided southbound lanes, access to Exit 86 is only available from the right lane.  During the closure, motorists using Exit 86 must stay right at the split located just before the Exit 91 interchange.  Motorists choosing the left lane at the split will not be able to get off the interstate until Exit 81 (Sonora).

All listed times are Eastern.

Official detours for these closures must be posted as described here for motorists who are unaware prior to arriving at the point of no possibility for choosing an alternate route.  Motorists reading this advisory who will be traveling through the area during these closures may wish to plan a more efficient route not involving the general detour area based upon a given destination.

Motorists should reduce speed and pay close attention to signage upon approaching the work zone.  Be prepared for stopped or slowly moving traffic ahead.  In addition to detour time, delays due to heavy traffic are possible before reaching the work zone.
