The Kentucky Department of Travel and Tourism has released tourism numbers for Grayson County that show a 73 percent increase in tourism spending in the county over the last five years.
According to the data, tourism spending in Grayson County in 2013 checked in at $15,375,858, and in 2017 rose to $26,595,659, an increase of $11,219,801.
The report says visitors to Grayson County spent a combined $72,865 per day in 2017, generating $11,992 in state and local tax revenues daily.
Travel and Tourism said in the report that tourism in Grayson County produced $9,216,023 in worker income last year, and $563,058 in local tax revenues.
The largest year-to-year leap in tourism spending over the last five years was made from 2014, when tourists spent $17,682,806, to 2015, when $22,250,909 was spent; a one-year increase of 25.8 percent.
