Two people were killed in Somerset as police chased a suspect who crashed into a truck that was stopped at a red light at a major intersection.

Kentucky State Police said on Wednesday afternoon at about 3:30, a Science Hill police officer was pursuing a Pontiac G6, being driven by 33-year-old Steven Vanhook, who was speeding and driving erratically. Vanhook fled police at speeds over 100 miles per hour before crashing into the back of a truck, being driven by 18-year-old Dylan Snow, who was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Hwy 27 and Adams Street. The truck then struck a Department of Homeland Security vehicle (the DHS vehicle was not involved in the puruit).

Snow and Vanhook were killed in the wreck.

Kentucky State Police is investigating the circumstances surrounding the pursuit.
