A Leitchfield man has been arrested after being accused of second-degree rape and incest.

According to the arrest citation, Leitchfield Police Department Detective Kevin Smith arrested 42-year-old Jeremy D. Crawford Tuesday afternoon and charged him with second-degree rape (no force) and two counts of incest after Crawford allegedly had “deviate sexual intercourse” with a 12-year-old relative.

The citation says the offenses occurred on Monday night at approximately 10:30 and that alcohol consumption played a role in the incident. The alleged crimes occurred at Crawford’s Leitchfield residence, according to the citation.

Kentucky Revised Statutes say a person is guilty of rape in the second degree when, (a) being 18-years-old or more, he or she engages in sexual intercourse with another person less than 14-years-old, or (b) he or she engages in sexual intercourse with another person who is mentally incapacitated or who is incapable of consent because he or she is an individual with an intellectual disability.

Second-degree rape is a class C felony, punishable by five to 10 years in prison. Incest is a class B felony when the crime involves a victim under the age of 18 (but older than 12), and is punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison.

Crawford is being held in the Grayson County Detention Center.
