A Clarkson man has died after accidentally shooting himself.
Saturday night at approximately 6:20, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Mark Johnson, Mark Newman and DJ Newton and EMS responded to the 300 block of Lone Oak Road on the report of an accidental shooting. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities found that 33-year-old Jeremy L. Daniels, of Clarkson, had accidentally shot himself in the abdomen with a shotgun.
Another person was at the residence at the time, but was not in the room when the accidental shooting occurred, leaving it unclear what Daniels was doing with the firearm prior to it discharging, according to police.
Daniels, who was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center by EMS, was pronounced dead at the hospital’s ER by Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson.
This marks the third accidental shooting in Grayson County since December 2018. In mid-December, a Big Clifty man accidentally shot a woman in the shin while showing her his new gun, and in late January, a Leitchfield man accidentally shot himself in the side while cleaning his gun in the parking lot of Parkway Villa Apartments. Neither of those shootings were fatal.
