A Caneyville man was arrested following a two-car accident after police located drugs inside his vehicle.

Tuesday night at approximately 9:40, Grayson County Deputies Mark Newman, Mark Johnson and Zane Greer, the Leitchfield Fire Department and EMS responded to the 3000 block of Lilac Road to what was originally reported as an injury accident.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found that a Chevrolet Cobalt, being driven by 20-year-old James A. Lucas, of Caneyville, was traveling north on Lilac Road when Lucas struck the rear of a Lincoln MKZ, being driven by Wanda Woosley, of Leitchfield, as Woosley was slowing to turn onto Clifty Church Drive.

Lucas was attempting to pass the Lincoln as it made its turn, according to police.

Police soon discovered Lucas was driving on a suspended operator’s license and had no insurance. He also displayed signs of impairment. During a search of his vehicle, deputies located an unspecified controlled substance.

Lucas was arrested and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center where he’s been charged with DUI, possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), having a prescription controlled substance not in its proper container, second-degree disorderly conduct, driving on a suspended/revoked operator’s license, and no insurance. He was also served with an active court summons.

Lucas and Woosley refused medical treatment at the scene.
