The BOIL WATER ADVISORY issued for all Leitchfield Utilities water customers has been lifted.

The advisory was issued Sunday morning after a main water line break occurred. Leitchfield Utilities Superintendent Dwight Embry said Sunday afternoon that the break was inadvertently caused by construction work at the site of the new Leitchfield Water Treatment Plant, which is adjacent to the current plant on Watson School Road.

In Monday’s press release announcing the advisory has been lifted, Embry said, “The samples taken by Leitchfield Utilities on Sunday have been analyzed by a state certified drinking water laboratory. Samples were taken at several sites and all sites were free of contamination. The Kentucky Division of Water, Bowling Green regional office, has approved lifting the boil water advisory … which was issued as a precautionary measure due to a water main break.”
