Two people are dead after a probable murder-suicide in Rockcastle County.
Kentucky State Police said a shooting occurred at approximately 2:00 Tuesday afternoon at an apartment in Brodhead, a town of 1,200 about 25 miles northeast of Somerset. When police responded to a report of a disturbance at the residence, a small child and 52-year-old Ricky D. McClure, of Brodhead, were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
KSP has not released the relationship between McClure and the deceased child but police said an arrest in the case is unlikely.
“We don’t think there is anyone out on the run and we are probably not going to make an arrest in this investigation,” Trooper Scottie Pennington said. “It’s just a sad day for Brodhead and sad day for Rockcastle County.”
Rockcastle County Coroner Marvin Owens told news outlets that the pair died in what appeared to be a murder-suicide.
