A Leitchfield man is facing drug and other charges after allegedly shooting at an occupied vehicle during an argument.

Tuesday night at 6:00, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office responded to 58 Hill Lane on the report of a man, 28-year-old Dacota G. Brooks, shooting at and striking an occupied truck as the driver was leaving Brooks’ property.

Constable Mark Stanton was in the area and arrived at the residence within two minutes of the call. Deputy Jason Luedke arrived soon after, and Sgt. Fred Norder began a search for the victim, who fled the scene yelling, according to witnesses, “Quit shooting my truck!”

Norder searched for the victim for about 90 minutes with no success.

After detaining Brooks, a search warrant for his property was obtained and executed at about 9:45 Tuesday night. During the search, police located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a firearm.

Brooks has so far been charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia. The drug possession and paraphernalia charges are enhanced because of the presence of the handgun.

The shooting investigation continues and additional charges are possible.

Brooks is being held in the Grayson County Detention Center.
