1,255 new COVID cases in KY, 27 deaths

On Tuesday, Gov. Andy Beshear reported 1,255 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Kentucky over the previous 24 hours.

The new cases increase the state’s COVID-19 victim count to 390,762 (about one case per 11.3 Kentucky residents).

Officials reported 27 COVID-related deaths, raising the state’s death toll to 4,318 (1.1 percent fatality rate).

The rolling seven-day positivity rate inched up from Monday’s 6.57 percent to 6.58 percent on Tuesday.

Hospitalizations decreased by 34 patients on Tuesday to 935, while intensive care admissions increased by four people to 272. Victims on ventilators rose by one patient to 133.

Since the onset of the pandemic, 18,183 (4.7 percent) people have been hospitalized, with 3,814 (one percent) patients treated in intensive care.

At least 46,074 (11.8 percent) Kentuckians have recovered from the virus, and 4.3 million COVID-19 tests have been administered in the state.
