The Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces buried nine three-pointers on their way to a 59-19 bashing of the Lady Cougars in the opening round of the 3rd Region Tournament Thursday night in Owensboro.

Grayson County gave up 39 points on 29 turnovers in the game and were never in the contest.

A three-pointer by Annie Kiper with 1:28 left in the first period pulled the Lady Cougars to within two points of the lead at 9-7. They would never be closer. Catholic closed out the period with a pair of three-pointers and led by eight, 15-7 heading into the second period.

Catholic outscored the Lady Cougars 16-2 in the second period and led by 22 points, 31-9 at the half. They then opened the third quarter with a 15-1 run and led by 36 points, 46-10 with 4:43 left. They led by 37 points, 51-14 at the end of the third period.

Catholic put 10 players into the scoring column, led by freshman Hailee Johnson’s 11 points, the only player in double figures on the night.

Sophomore Aryssa Riggs led the Lady Cougars with five points. Senior Ella Robinson, who it was thought was through for the season, scored four points. Annie Kiper and Brianna Dennis both scored three points, while Riley Stevenson and Rachael Snyder finished with two apiece. Snyder led the Lady Cougars on the boards with six rebounds.

The Lady Cougars finish the season with a record of 13-10.
