The visiting Allen County-Scottsville Patriots scored a run-rule victory, 12-1 in five innings over the Grayson County Lady Cougars last Friday at the Cougar softball complex.

The Patriots  pounded out 15 hits and scored in every inning. Sophomore Audrey Killion started for the Lady Cougars and went 2 2/3 innings and gave up nine runs on nine hits. Mallory Lindsey relieved in the third inning and went the final 2 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on six hits.

The Patriots scored all the runs they would need in the first inning when they used four hits and a pair of Cougar errors to score four times. They added two more runs in the second, then nearly batted around in the third when they scored three more times.

The Cougars scored their only run in the second inning. Killion led off with a double down the line in right and was replaced on the bases by Lily Kate Hill. Hannah Franklin walked to put runners at first and second and both runners moved up a base on a sacrifice by Aryssa Riggs. Hill scored on a ground out by Kayla Tubb.

That was it for the Cougars. The Patriots added another run in the fourth, then made it a run-rule game with two more in the fifth. Tubb walked with one out in the fifth and made it as far as third base before Annie Kiper grounded out to end the game.
