The Leitchfield Fire Department used newly purchased equipment to free a teenage girl from underneath a vehicle after a wreck on Anneta Road.

Sunday night at approximately 8:00, Leitchfield fire, Grayson County Deputies Caleb Owens and Lane Rackley and EMS responded to the 5900 block of Anneta Road after a Honda Civic left the roadway.

A witness said as the southbound Honda drove off the road it began spinning, as the vehicle traveled down a six-foot embankment and into a field, traveling about 130 feet after leaving the road. The passenger was tossed from the car, with the Honda coming to a stop on top of the teen.

Leitchfield fire personnel soon arrived on scene and lifted the car off the girl using recently purchased Lyft equipment, according to LFD Chief Tim Duvall. It took firefighters less than 15 minutes to free the girl, who was conscious and alert.

The driver, also a Grayson County juvenile teenage girl, suffered injuries in the crash as well. Both girls were transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center by EMS with non-life threatening injuries.
