A Clarkson woman has been accused of intentionally setting fire to a home under construction.

Thursday night at approximately 9:55, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Jason Luedke was in Clarkson when he happened upon a small fire at the residence in the 400 block of South Patterson Street. At least one person was seen running from the area near the time the fire was started.

Firefighters and Luedke remained on scene for about an hour investigating the obvious arson.

As Clarkson firefighters were leaving the scene, Clarkson Police Officer/firefighter Blake Elmore, who responded as a fireman, noticed a Buick Encore parked at the Citgo gas station (which was closed), at 200 West Main Street. Elmore said he saw the vehicle leaving the area as firefighters arrived at the fire scene.

Elmore informed Luedke, who made contact with the person in the vehicle, Jessica Perkins. After an investigation, which showed Perkins had items that could be used to start a fire inside the Buick, she was arrested and charged for her role in starting the fire.

Perkins was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center (no mugshot was available).

Constable Bill Dalton and Elmore assisted at the scene.
