Cougar freshman Will Johnston and junior Colton Glenn had two goals apiece as the Cougar soccer team recorded its second straight shut-out win on Saturday, 6-0 over the visiting Allen County-Scottsville Patriots.

Grayson County got on the board in the eighth minute of play when senior Bahaa al Masri took a throw in on the left side of the field, dribbled past the defense and shot the ball past the Patriot goalie to make it 1-0.

Johnston made it 2-0 in the 19th minute of play when he took a pass in the middle of the field and took it in to beat the goal keeper on his left side.

In the 35th minute, sophomore Wyatt Clemons put a free kick past the Patriot defense toward the goal. Johnston beat the goal keeper to the ball, as he had come out trying to get to the loose ball. Johnston got up and put the ball into the empty net to make it 3-0.

A minute later Glenn scored his first goal when senior Josh Stevenson’s shot deflected off a Patriot defender back to Glenn about 10 yards out and he put it in the net to make it 4-0.

The Cougars were whistled for a foul in the penalty area in the 38th minute, but the Patriots missed the penalty kick wide to the left, leaving the score at 4-0 at the half.

Stevenson made it 5-0 in the 45th minute after taking a pass from al Masri.

The score stayed that way until the 73rd minute when Glenn scored for the second time to make the final score 6-0.
