Norbet Hayes, age 88, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Monday, (October 4, 2021) at the Edmonson Health Care in Brownsville, KY.
He was born on October 11, 1932 in Grayson, Co, the son of the late Ed and Sybol Logsdon Hayes.
He was a co-owner of the Southgate Mall and the Coast to Coast Hardware. He also owned and operated the Hayes Piano and Music Store, as well as a dozer operator. He was a co-founder and member of the New Freedom Church, where he served as a Deacon and the piano player.
He is survived by three daughters, Deborah Smith (Moon), Barbara Edwards, and Lisa Lacefield all of Leitchfield, and one son, Danny Hayes of Nevada, seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, two brothers, Kenneth Hayes of Louisville and Dewey Hayes (Kathy) of Hopkinsville, KY, one sister, Alice Willis of Leitchfield. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Saltsman Hayes, a son, Chad Hayes, three brothers, Johnny, James and G.L. Hayes and one sister, Elizabeth Lasley as well as two infant children.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, (October 10, 2021) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bros. Buddy Brooks and Christopher Edwards will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Freedom Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of services.
