Just over a week after a four-year-old boy was practically unscathed after tumbling 70 feet at Red River Gorge, a dog has survived a 170-foot fall at the popular geological area in Daniel Boone National Forest.
The Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team said that Sunday afternoon at approximately 1:00, the owner of a pit bull mix reported his dog, while chasing a lizard, fell off a 170 foot cliff at the Frog’s Head area of the gorge.
A rescue team was assembled, and as they searched for the dog they encountered a group of hikers who said they had seen an unleashed dog roaming the area. Someone in the group took a photo of the dog and when rescuers showed the photo to the dog’s owner, “to our absolute amazement, this was their fur baby, Tyson,” rescuers said.
Soon after, rescuers located the dog, who appeared to suffer no injuries in the fall.
