Over 50 new COVID cases in Grayson Co., no new verified deaths. Incident rate remains in the ‘red.’

On Monday, the Grayson County Health Department updated the county’s COVID-19 numbers.

The health department said 52 new cases of the virus have been diagnosed since the last update on November 22. There have been 5,076 cases diagnosed in Grayson County since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.

No new verified deaths were reported, leaving the county’s death toll at 99. Six suspected COVID deaths are awaiting confirmation from state health officials, up one death from last Monday.

There are 52 active cases in the county, down 15 from November 22. One resident is currently hospitalized, down one from November 22.

The county’s incident rate checked in at 29.2 on Monday, the same as November 22. The county remains in the “red” along with 72 other Kentucky counties.

Among bordering counties, only Edmonson County (12.9) does not have a “critical spread” of the virus, according to the Kentucky Department for Public Health.

Hart County (48.0) has the highest COVID rate of occurrence over the last week among neighboring counties, followed by Breckinridge County (45.3).

The statewide incident rate is 27.84, down from last Monday’s 31.54.
