An Elizabethtown Post 4 Kentucky State Trooper has been involved in an accident after a driver traveled into the trooper’s path in Hardin County.

Kentucky State Police Post 4 spokesman Scotty Sharp said that Sunday night at approximately 6:10, authorities responded to the accident at the intersection on Ring Road and Gaither Station Road, about two miles southwest of Elizabethtown.

Sharp said the preliminary investigation revealed that Trooper Cameron Wright was traveling east on Ring Road. As he approached the intersection of Gaither Station Road, a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro, being driven by 18-year-old Melissa Broadfoot, of Cecilia, failed to yield and drove into Wright’s path.

The collision resulted in severe damage to both vehicles, according to Sharp.

Wright was transported to Baptist Health Hardin with non-life threatening injuries and later released. Broadfoot and her passenger, 18-year-old Elijah Wilson, also of Cecilia, were treated at the scene by Hardin County EMS.

The investigation is ongoing and being led by KSP Sgt. Stephen Oughton.
