A child has been killed in Meade County and his mother and her boyfriend have been charged with his murder.

On Monday, the Meade County Sheriff’s Office responded to Greer Road in Payneville after a child called 911 and reported five-year-old Braydon A. Irwin wasn’t breathing. The child was taken to Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, Indiana, where he was pronounced dead.

The preliminary cause of death was blunt force trauma, according to the Harrison County Coroner’s Office.

On Wednesday, and after receiving a tip on their location, Braydon’s mother, 28-year-old Kayla Irwin, of Tell City, Indiana, and her boyfriend, 40-year-old Daniel Clemans, of Payneville, were arrested in the driveway of Clemans’ residence.

Kayla Irwin was charged with murder, while Clemans was charged with complicity to commit murder. Additional charges are possible.

Both are being held in the Meade County Detention Center on $250,000 cash bonds.
