The mother of a four-year-old Shelby County girl has been arrested in Kansas with her boyfriend.
Catherine McKinney and Dakota Hill were arrested on a custodial interference warrant out of Shelby County in Colby, Kansas, a small town in the northwestern part of the state.
McKinney and Hill, who were arrested Sunday by the Kansas Highway Patrol, are in the Thomas County Jail awaiting extradition to Kentucky.
McKinney is the mother of four-year-old Serenity Ann McKinney who has not been seen since December 24, 2020. Serenity’s parents have not been cooperating with authorities, police said, since extended family members recently alerted authorities they were concerned about the girl’s wellbeing.
The Kentucky Attorney General’s Office announced last week that they are partnering with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in the search for Serenity.
Serenity has blond hair and blue eyes and a birthmark on her stomach.
