Lady Cougars halt 13-game losing streak, 39-33 over Warren Central

The Lady Cougar basketball team got 24 points from guard Sydney Perkins Thursday evening to halt a 13-game losing streak, 39-33 over Warren Central.

Perkins hit six three-pointers on the evening, including five in the first period when she scored all 15 of Grayson County’s points.  The Lady Cougars led by eight points, 15-7 following Perkins’ fifth three. They led by two points, 15-13 at the end of the second period.

A lay-in by Kennadee Robinson with 3:20 left gave the Lady Dragons their only lead of the night 28-26, but a Perkins three put the Lady Cougars back in front 29-28.

The Lady Dragons managed to tie the score 31-31, but the Lady Cougars outscored them 8-2 down the stretch to win by six.

Aryssa Riggs joined Perkins in double figures with 11 points. and she pulled down five rebounds. Sutten VanMeter and Gracie Escue both finished with two points to complete the Lady Cougar scoring. Raigan Cave did not score, but she led the team on the glass with six rebounds.
