With his family by his side, James Noah Blanton, 73, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2022 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY.

James was born on January 7, 1949 to the late Marvin and Gracie “Gertrude” Stevenson Blanton, of Leitchfield, and married the late Edith Hack Blanton on January 1, 1972.

A 1967 graduate of Clarkson High School, he was the retired Grayson County Property Valuation Administrator, an office he held from 1993 to 2006. He was a member of the Baptist faith.

In addition to spending time with his children and grandchildren, whom he loved more than life, James also enjoyed farming, fishing, and bird-watching.

James is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Dennison (T.J.) and Emily Beck, of Leitchfield; two granddaughters, Hattie Dennison and Emma Beck, of Leitchfield; one sister, Alice Burns (Alvie), of Leitchfield; and three nephews, Wayne White (Chrissy) and Lee Burns (Terra), of Leitchfield, and Brian Blanton, of Tell City, IN. He is also survived by one great-nephew and two great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandfather, Anes Blanton; his wife, Edith Blanton; three brothers, Lee Marvin, Richard, and Charles Blanton; his mother-in-law, Emma Jean Hack; and his brother-in-law, David Earl Hack.

Visitation will be held at Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield on Tuesday, February 22, from 12 to 8 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 23, at 9 a.m. until the time of service.

The funeral service will be held at Dermitt Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 23, at 11 a.m. with Bro. Charlie Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Vol Layman Cemetery.
