Man facing life in prison after being found guilty of killing Todd Co. woman while driving under the influence of drugs

A western Kentucky man is facing life in prison after being found guilty of killing a woman while driving under the influence of drugs.

Billy Jo Faughn, 45, of Hopkinsville, was found guilty of murder and DUI in a Todd County courtroom after striking and killing 71-year-old Sarah “Janie” Barrow during a July 29, 2020, car crash, according to WHOP.com.

Kentucky State Police responded to the wreck and determined Faughn was traveling south in the 1200 block of Blue and Gray Park Road, about one mile north of Elkton, when he left the roadway, traveled over 400 feet and struck Barrow, who was standing outside her garage. The impact caused her to go through the garage wall.

She was airlifted to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Faughn, police discovered, was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of the crash and was traveling at a high rate of speed, WHOP.com reports.

The jury recommended a life sentence. Formal sentencing in slated for January 4.
