A man has been arrested in connection to the murder of a WKU student, as another suspect remains on the loose.

The Bowling Green Police said yesterday that 24-year-old Kobee A. Lancaster, of Bowling Green, has been charged with first-degree assault in the case. He was arrested on Tuesday and lodged in the Warren County Regional Jail where he’s being held on a $500,000 cash bond.

WKU student Ayanna Morgan, 21, of Savannah, Georgia, was shot to death Sunday night at approximately 10:00. Morgan was found outside in the back of the Muse Bowling Green apartment complex in the 1700 block of Russellville Road when police responded to the area on the report of an “assault in progress.”

The murder suspect, 21-year-old Malik Jones, remains free. Police advise that Jones is armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Morgan, who suffered two gunshot wounds, was transported to The Medical Center at Bowling Green before being airlifted to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, where she died early Monday morning.

Anyone with information on Jones’ location is asked to call 911 or the Bowling Green PD at 270-393-4000.
