The Leitchfield Fire Department will soon host its second annual Fishing Tournament, a major fundraiser for the department’s Shop with a Firefighter Christmas program.

The event will be held at Rough River Lake on Saturday, September 9. Registration begins at 4:30 a.m. at the Rough River State Dock. Boats will launch at daylight.

The entry fee is $100, with $1,000 guaranteed to the winner. There will also be a payout for every 10 registered boats (last year 40 boats entered the contest). There will additionally be prize money for Biggest Fish.

In 2022, the event raised $2,000 for Shop with a Firefighter, and included the fourth place finishers, John R. Carroll and Jacob Carroll, returning their $200 prize money to the Shop with a Firefighter program, which is linked to Community Action’s Christmas program that serves underprivileged children in Grayson County.

For more information, and for anyone interested in sponsoring the event, call 270-287-3873 or email lfdauxiliary42754@gmail.com.
