The body of a Muhlenberg County man missing for approximately three months has been found in central Kentucky.

Breathitt “Bret” Kelly, 52, of Central City, last spoke with family members approximately three months ago, Kentucky State Police previously said.

“The discovery follows an exhaustive investigation, with crucial information provided to (KSP) Post 2 detectives, leading our investigative team to Jessamine County, where Mr. Kelley’s vehicle was found,” according to Kentucky State Police. “The Jessamine County Sheriff’s (Office) had an unidentified body located on November 16, 2023, and through familial DNA testing and other medical records, Mr. Kelley was positively identified on December 20, 2023.”

The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Kelley’s death. State police said the “preliminary findings” of the investigation have led police to, at this time, not suspect foul play in the death.
