Grayson County Attorney Jeremy Logsdon has released additional information on the arrest of a Leitchfield police officer.

As K105 previously reported, LPD Officer Tycondi “Ty” Whitaker was arrested by Kentucky State Police on Wednesday and charged with two counts of terroristic threatening, a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $500 fine.

The charges, Logsdon noted, were approved by him and “subsequently the district judge.”

Logsdon, in a press release, said authorities are in possession of an audio recording of Whitaker allegedly threatening to kill a woman and her boyfriend.

“The public records of the Grayson Circuit Clerk contain evidence which includes a recording of Mr. Whitaker stating that he would kill the mother of his child and her boyfriend along with other statements,” Logsdon said in a press release. “This evidence, along with other evidence of escalating aggressive behavior towards the mother of his child, while in uniform, is also contained in the public records of the clerk.”

At this time, no arraignment date has been set, according to Logsdon.

“Any charges are merely accusations that must be proven, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty,” Logsdon wrote in a statement. “This release is in compliance with Ky. R. Sup. Ct. SCR 3.130(3.6).”
