An allegedly intoxicated Leitchfield man has been arrested after hitting a Caneyville bicyclist on North Main Street in Leitchfield.

The incident occurred Friday afternoon at approximately 1:20 when Leitchfield Police Department Sgt. Keith Harrell, the Leitchfield Fire Department and EMS responded to the 300 block of North Main Street and found that a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, being driven by 57-year-old Jerry Keown, struck a bicycle rider, 30-year-old Thomas J. Salmon, of Caneyville.

Salmson, who suffered non-life threatening injuries, was transported by EMS to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center.

Keown was given a preliminary breath test, which showed the presence of alcohol. He was arrested and charged with his second DUI (with aggravating circumstances) and lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center.

LPD Officer Eugene Cain assisted at the scene.
