Leitchfield Utilities is working to find and alleviate a “major leak” in a main water line.

“Leitchfield Utilities is experiencing a major water leak in one of our main lines. We have so far been unable to locate the leak,” Utilities Superintendent Dwight Embry said in a social media post. “In an effort to keep most of Leitchfield in water, we will shut off one of the lines feeding Leitchfield.”

Embry said shutting off a line will allow “most customers” to have water service but there will be “a few customers that will be without water until the leak can be repaired.”

The affected areas are Lilac Road from Boston Hill Road to Lewis School Road.

“We will continue to work hard to find and repair the leak as soon as possible,” Embry said. “We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.”
