The Leitchfield City Council Monday night reappointed three members to the Leitchfield Tourism Commission, granted two rezoning requests and agreed to increase the stipends received by members of the city’s Planning Commission.
Rezoning
The council heard the second and final reading of a rezoning request for a property in the 1000 block of Cave Mill Road, owned by Ben Hodges, from R4 (two family) to R2A (single-family high density). The council unanimously approved the rezoning request.
The council also agreed to rezone 305 Ragland Drive, owned by Brite Wholesale Electric Supply, from R2 (single-family, medium density) to B2 (central business).
The Planning Commission recommended the council grant both rezoning requests.
Planning Commission
The council agreed to an ordinance stipulating that Leitchfield Planning Commissioners receive a stipend of $300 per month, and the commission chair receive a $500 per month stipend “due to the time and dedication required of serving on said board …,” the ordinance states.
The new stipend goes into effect on July 1, 2024.
Tourism Commission
The Leitchfield Tourism Commission has three members – Carla Winn, Kelly Stevenson and commission chair Ryan Bratcher — whose terms come to an end on June 30, 2024.
Mayor Harold Miller said he spoke with Leitchfield Tourism Director Ilsa Johnson, who told the mayor that “she would like to see those people return to the commission.”
The council unanimously approved Winn, Stevenson and Bratcher serve another term on the Tourism Commission that begins on July 1, 2024, and ends on June 30, 2027.
