There will be a new principal at Grayson County High School next school year.
On Tuesday, a social media post on the Breckinridge County Schools Facebook page announced that GCHS Principal Lacy Cox “will be the Library Media Specialist at Breckinridge County High School during the 2025-2026 school year.”
“We appreciate everything Lacy has brought to GCHS through the years. Her energy, positivity, and commitment to her students and staff alike will be missed. We wish her the best.”
In choosing Cox as interim principal, Robinson praised her as ideal for the role.
“Lacy is a tremendous asset to Grayson County Schools and to GCHS,” Robinson said at the time. “Her creativity and passions for learning and for people make her a perfect fit for this role.”
The GCHS School-Based Decision Making Council selected Cox as the new principal on March 11, 2022.
“Lacy’s love and dedication for GCHS are evident in her work and drive in the education system. We are beyond lucky to have her commitment to our community and school system and we look forward to working with her,” said School-Based Decision Making member and teacher Tannan Pohlman after Cox was selected.
Cox, a 2002 GCHS graduate, was the first female principal at the high school since its inception in 1974.
She has been with the district since 2010, transitioning from a stint in sales that convinced her that she preferred a more hands-on role in helping others, according to the school district.
Cox taught briefly at Grayson County Middle School before returning to her alma mater to teach freshman science. During that time, she earned a master’s in library science and later a Rank I designation in Administration, including principal certification.
After four years in the classroom, she became library media specialist at the high school, where she worked closely with the administrative team on school-wide projects, including forming a positive culture conducive to learning.
