A former Owensboro Public Schools superintendent has been sentenced to decades in prison after pleading guilty to nine federal child porn and child sexual exploitation charges.
Dr. Matthew D. Constant, 53, was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on Wednesday. There is no parole in the federal system.
Constant was indicted on a state charge of tampering with physical evidence in October 2023.
He was then indicted by a federal grand jury in August 2024 on two counts of online enticement of a minor, three counts of receiving child pornography, two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, and two counts of transferring obscene material to a minor, according to the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky.
Constant pled guilty to those charges in February 2025.
Constant was hired by Owensboro Public Schools in 2011. He was promoted to superintendent in 2020.
In addition to Kentucky State Police, the case was investigated by the FBI’s Owensboro office.
