A truck driver has died in a single-vehicle accident, caused by a blowout, in Breckinridge County.
Kentucky State Police said troopers responded Thursday afternoon at approximately 2:00 to the accident near the intersection of Hwy 144 and Cart Manning Crossing Lane, about eight miles northeast of Stephensport.
The state police investigation revealed that 44-year-old Michael Robert Tropp, of Jasper, Indiana, was driving a tractor-trailer west on Hwy 144 when a passenger side tire left the roadway. The semi then exited the roadway and traveled down an embankment before striking a tree.
Tropp was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Breckinridge Co. Coroner’s Office.
The affected portion of Hwy 144 was closed for several hours as troopers reconstructed the crash. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Tyler Lynch.
