An eight-year-old has died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The incident happened on Saturday night at approximately 10:30 at a residence in the 6900 block of Bardstown Road just south of the Fern Creek area of Jefferson County.
When Louisville police arrived at the scene, they found an eight-year-old child deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, WAVE.com reports.
Law enforcement said it is too early to determine if the shooting was intentional or accidental, or if charges will be filed.
The Louisville Metro Police Department’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.
