Owensboro police at scene of shooting hear gunshots nearby as woman is shot

Owensboro officers on the scene of a shooting heard more gunfire only two blocks away.

The Owensboro Police Department responded to a report of gunshots Wednesday morning at approximately 3:00 in the 600 block of Elm Street.

Upon arriving at the scene, police found that a residence had been struck several times by gunfire. No injuries were reported at the scene.

While officers were processing the Elm Street scene, they heard “multiple gunshots” coming from a short distance away.

As officers responded to the gunshots, Central Dispatch received a call from a residence in the 400 block of Cedar Street, only two blocks from Elm Street, where an adult female was struck by the gunfire.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Owensboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to both scenes and are continuing the investigations.

The shootings are believed to be “related incidents,” according to the Owensboro PD.
