A semi-truck driver making an “illegal U-turn” on the Bluegrass Parkway caused a fiery crash involving another tractor-trailer.
Kentucky State Police said the wreck occurred Monday night at approximately 9:25 near the seven-mile marker of the parkway in Hardin County.
The state police investigation revealed that an eastbound semi, being driven by 41-year-old Manual O. Paxtian, of Moss, Tennessee, was attempting to make “an illegal U-turn using an emergency turnaround” when another eastbound semi, being driven by 67-year-old Charles Penn, of Union Springs, Alabama, struck the tractor-trailer.
Penn’s semi overturned in the westbound lanes, while Paxtian’s semi caught fire, according to state police.
Paxtian sustained minor injuries and was transported to Baptist Health Hardin. Penn was not injured.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing. Police have not yet released information on what charges, if any, Paxtian will face.
