A bridge on a major thoroughfare in Falls of Rough has been temporarily closed.
The Rough River Lake Spillway Bridge on Hwy 79 (Falls of Rough Rd.) will be closed at least through Thursday as an engineering team inspects the bridge deck, according to Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 4 spokesman Chris Jessie.
The closure comes as the engineering team “develops a course of action until the bridge deck replacement project begins in June,” Jessie said.
Motorists should use alternate routes, including Owensboro Road (Hwy 54), Lilac Road (Hwy 737) or Brandenburg Road (Hwy 259).
More information will be available once the inspection is complete, according to Jessie.
The closure is not related to the Rough River Dam Safety Modification Project.
