Mary Sue Wilcher, age 88, of Caneyville, passed away Wednesday, (May 13, 2026) at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 19, 1937, in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the
late Charlie Johnson and Lillie Mae Johnson.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved gardening, canning, watching Jimmy and Donnie Swaggart, and riding on her John Deere mower.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo Wilcher; three grandchildren Patty Overton (Jonathan), Michael Wilcher (Brittany) and Hunter Mashburn; eight great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jeffery, Kaitlyn, Sage, Madison, Alex, Harley, and Cheyenne; three great-great-grandchildren, Shawn, Mia, and Adrian; and two brothers, Morris Johnson and Charles Johnson (Marty). Several nieces and
nephews also survive.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sons, James Mashburn and Charles Wilcher Jr.; one son-in-law, Micheal Wilcher; one grandchild, Garret Lee Dodson; two sisters, Anna Blessitt and Jeroline Johnson; four half sisters, Dorothy, Effie, Goldie, Iva; and three half-brothers,
Shelton, Ernest and Leo.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, (May 22, 2026) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Brad Mudd and Bro. Davy Norris will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00 a.m. Friday until time of services.
