The Caneyville man the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office captured following a week on the run, after he dragged his girlfriend along Yeaman Road, has been indicted by the Grayson County Grand Jury on four charges.

Joshua J. Stone, 33, is accused of “punching the female victim in the face, breaking her leg and then kicking the leg when he realized he may have broken it” during a May 28 domestic dispute, according to the arrest report. Stone then dragged the victim down Yeaman Road with his vehicle. The victim said that Stone believed that she might be pregnant so he began kicking her in the stomach (it turns out she was not pregnant). Furthermore, the victim suffered a broken nose from being punched in the face, and multiple abrasions from being dragged.

The victim was transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center by EMS and later taken to University of Louisville Hospital where she underwent surgery for several hours in an attempt to repair her leg, according to Sheriff Norman Chaffins.

Stone was indicted on three felony charges, including first-degree assault (domestic violence), first-degree wanton endangerment and first-degree unlawful imprisonment. He was also indicted on one count of third-degree criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor. Stone faces over 30 years in prison if convicted of all the charges.

After police received a tip on his location, Stone was captured at a residence just west of Leitchfield off Hwy 54 on the afternoon of June 6.

Grayson County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Fred Norder responded to the original complaint during the early morning hours of May 28, and found the victim about 100 feet off the roadway and suffering from numerous injuries. Deputy Kelsey Overton, and LPD Officers Keith Harrell and Joe Overton also responded to the scene, searching for Stone inside his residence as well as at his mother’s home next door.

Stone is being held in the Grayson County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.
