On Thursday night at approximately 6:40, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Louisville woman on a theft warrant and drug charge in Big Clifty.
According to the arrest citation, deputies received information that a female passenger in a vehicle thought to be in the Big Clifty area had a warrant for her arrest. The suspect is accused of illegally taking an acquaintance’s vehicle on February 13 and never returning the car, a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu.
Sgt. Fred Norder spotted the vehicle the suspect was traveling in, a 2005 Buick Century, in the parking lot of the Dollar General Store in Big Clifty, at 9861 Elizabethtown Road. Norder entered the store and made contact with the suspect, 35-year-old Ashley R. Dulak, of Louisville, and 29-year-old Dustin M. Kraus, also of Louisville.
According to the citation, Kraus told Norder he did not have a driver’s license on him and gave Norder a false name and social security number. Further investigation showed that Kraus had an active arrest warrant out of Jefferson County for failure to pay a fine on a traffic violation.
While questioning Dulak, she admitted to Norder that she had a used syringe, which contained heroin, in her purse in the Buick.
Norder’s K-9 partner, Marco, was then led around the outside of the Buick with the drug dog indicating on the car. A search of the vehicle’s interior revealed the used syringe Dulak admitted to possessing, a second used syringe and a very small amount of marijuana.
Dulak was arrested and charged with the outstanding warrant for theft by unlawful taking (more than $500, less than $10,000, a class D felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Kraus was charged with several non-moving violations, as well as the outstanding warrant. Both were lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center. Kraus has since been released.
