The Hardin County man who was shot as he ran at police with a knife in his hand has been charged in the case.
During the early morning hours of January 23, Radcliff police responded to Pin Oak Apartments at 101 Navaho Drive on the report of an armed robbery. Upon arriving, officers encountered 34-year-old Joseph R. Godsey, of Radcliff, who was holding a knife outside a residence. Godsey failed to obey commands to drop the weapon, according to Kentucky State Police, and charged at two officers who shot the suspect multiple times.
KSP said Godsey was charged earlier this week with assault of a police officer, a class D felony.
The two officers who shot Godsey, Roger D. Beets III and Officer Jonah L. Everage, were placed on paid administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
The Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team is leading the investigation.
