A Hardin County man has been arrested after going on a one man crime spree by robbing a store at knifepoint, stealing a car, breaking into a restaurant, and stealing items from a residence.

Elizabethtown police arrested 26-year-old Alexander D. Romines, of Elizabethtown, Saturday night after he robbed Kroger Wine and Spirits on Dolphin Drive with a box cutter. The News-Enterprise reports Romines stole $40 from a cash register. He was arrested a short time later at an apartment less than two-tenths of a mile from the business.

Once in custody, Romines was served with two warrants; one for stealing a vehicle on October 8 and the other for taking an Xbox and Roku projector from a home on October 7.

While under interrogation, he admitted to breaking into a Hardee’s restaurant on Buffalo Creek Drive as well as St. Vincent de Paul store on North Mulberry Street.

The newspaper reports that Romines told police he committed the thefts because of “a substance abuse problem, along with money problems.”

Romines was charged with first-degree robbery, two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of theft by unlawful taking.

He was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center.
