A Meade County teenager has been killed in a three-vehicle accident.

Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to the wreck Friday afternoon at approximately 3:50 in the 300 block of Bypass Road in Brandenburg.

State police said the preliminary investigation revealed a 16-year-old was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado and was attempting to make a left turn onto Bypass Road when it struck a southbound 2013 Ford Focus, being driven by a 17-year-old.

The impact propelled the Ford across the center line where the vehicle was struck by a 2015 Chevrolet 3500, being driven by 48-year-old Christopher Stone, of Brandenburg.

Gracie K. Prater, 16, of Flaherty, a passenger in the Focus, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Meade County Coroner’s Office. Another passenger in the Focus was taken by private means to Baptist Health Hardin for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The Ford’s 17-year-old driver was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Stone was transported to Harrison Memorial Hospital in Indiana for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The juvenile driver and two passengers in the Chevrolet Silverado were uninjured.

Prater was a sophomore at Meade County High School, active in FFA and Chorus, according to her obituary. She was also a small business owner.
