In a social media announcement on Friday, Grayson County Middle School has named Kelli Harris as the new head coach for their volleyball program.

Harris also serves as the head coach of the high school volleyball team.

She was hired for her second stint as the leader of the GCHS program in 2019 and has led her team to the 3rd Region tournament in every year since. That run is highlighted by the 2020 season where the Lady Cougars made it all the way to the region championship game.

Harris also was with Grayson County volleyball from 2001-07 where she won over 120 games which included the 2004 region runner-up. She stepped down following the 2007 season in order to devote time to her two sons; Corbin and Cameron.

“Sports are just avenues to learn the skills that are important for being successful people,” Harris told K105 in 2019. “I want the girls to know the value of being a team player and putting the good of others first.”

Prior to coming to Grayson County, she ran track and cross country at WKU for four years and served as a graduate assistant women’s basketball coach at Western Michigan University for 2 years.

The middle school volleyball season begins in January with the high school Lady Cougars opening on August 15 against Hart County.
