Additional information has come to light regarding the physical abuse of a small Hardin County boy.

As K105 reported on Tuesday, the child’s father, 25-year-old Clovis Smith, and his girlfriend, 23-year-old Satrina Layne, of Rineyville, were arrested Sunday on child abuse charges.

New information, according to a report by WAVE3.com, shows the five-year-old boy did not have a pulse when he arrived at Baptist Health Hardin, and weighed only 32 pounds. He was airlifted to Norton Children’s Hospital and during the trip from Elizabethtown to Louisville he went into cardiac arrest multiple times.

Furthermore, the child displayed bruising on multiple parts of his body, including his forehead, arm and ear.

While being interrogated by Kentucky State Police, Smith and Layne admitted they physically abused the child by locking him inside a bedroom and hitting him with hands, flip flops and a spatula.

Smith took the child to Baptist Health Hardin on Sunday after finding him unconscious and covered in vomit after he possibly drank rubbing alcohol.

Smith and Layne are being held in the Hardin County Detention Center.

The investigation is being led by KSP Det. Casey Keown.
