Grayson County High School students Izzie Stevenson and Piper Mangan were each accepted into one of the prestigious governor’s programs this summer.
Izzie will join four other Cougars in the Governor’s Scholars Program, spending five weeks on a college campus immersed in the university environment.
“Her application was selected as part of the rigorous statewide scholarship program which seeks to celebrate Kentucky juniors excelling academically, personally, and in stewardship,” the school district said.
Piper, a sophomore, was selected for the Governor’s School of Entrepreneurs Summer Startup.
“She was chosen based on personal and academic achievements as well as her interest in broadening her knowledge of starting her own business here in Grayson County,” according to the school district.
Piper will spend three weeks at the University of Kentucky’s Gatton Campus learning and nurturing ideas into businesses.
K105 reported last month that four Grayson County High School juniors had been selected for the prestigious Governor’s Scholars Program (GSP).
The highly competitive process is based on a 40-plus page application highlighting academic merit, community service contributions, and individual honors across all areas of their school and personal lives.
They will spend five weeks of Summer 2025 at one of the three GSP campus locations: Centre College, Morehead State University or Murray State University.
