Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman announced on Friday that County Attorney for Grayson County Jeremy Logsdon and nine other county attorneys have been appointed to the first-ever Child Support Advisory Council (CSAC).

The council “will assist the attorney general’s office in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Department of Child Support Services,” Coleman said.

The attorney general created CSAC by executive order earlier this year.

Coleman said the council is taking on a “no fail mission.”

Logsdon noted the real-world results that CSAC can provide will help children and families across the commonwealth have improved, more fruitful lives.

‘’This world can be wonderful, but it can also be rough and unpredictable, especially for a child that lacks the necessities and security they need,” Logsdon told K105. “Child support isn’t just money; it is the important necessities of life that the money provides; it’s the food that allows them to grow; it’s clothes that keep them warm; (and) it’s the books and toys that let them enjoy their little lives and become smarter and more well-rounded.”

Knowing that the future of countless Kentucky children are at stake, Logsdon is ready to labor to ensure that those children are given an opportunity to become productive citizens, which not only benefits them but also those around them.

“In being allowed to help contribute along with my colleagues on this first-ever council, I hope to do my part so that more children get what they greatly need and in turn, hopefully develop into outstanding adults who make this world more wonderful and less rough and unpredictable — for all of us,” he said. “With that said, it is a great honor to be appointed by General Coleman and I thank him.”

Joining Logsdon on the council are: Clay Co. Attorney Joseph White, Fayette Co. Attorney Angela Evans, Jefferson Co. Attorney Mike O’Connell, Kenton Co. Attorney Stacy Tapke, Logan Co. Attorney Joseph Ross, Madison Co. Attorney Jennie Haymond, Marshall Co. Attorney Jason Darnall, McCracken Co. Attorney Cade Foster, and Spencer Co. Attorney Corey Thomas.

“They come from counties large and small, from communities in the east to the far west,” Coleman said. “But they all share a common commitment to serving our kids and strengthening the financial stability of Kentucky families.”

Logsdon was first elected Grayson County Attorney in May 2018 — he did not face opposition in the general election — after serving for many years in the Grayson County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office where he served as First Assistant Prosecutor.

In January 2021, Logsdon was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Kentucky County Attorney Association (KCAA).

Sen. Steve Meredith’s role

In 2023, the General Assembly passed legislation sponsored by Sen. Steve Meredith, R-Leitchfield, to move the commonwealth’s child support function from the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to the attorney general’s office.

“The transition took place on July 1, 2025, with minimal disruption to those delivering child support services, and most importantly for the children and families who depend on them,” the attorney generals’ office said.

In the last fiscal year, the program handled more than 220,000 cases and collected over $336 million in child support.
