An Edmonson County motorist showed a deputy his beer and then fled at speeds reaching up to 120 miles per hour.

On Wednesday, Ethan Ashley, 36, of Brownsville, approached an Edmonson County deputy who was parked at the Family Dollar at 644 South Main Street in Brownsville and showed the deputy his open beer before fleeing south on South Main Street, according to WNKY.com.

Ashley drove a short distance before turning onto Mammoth Cave Road (Hwy 70), where speeds reached up to 120 mph. After fleeing for several miles, Ashley slowed his vehicle as he struck two police cruisers, resulting in damage to both vehicles.

Ashley was arrested and charged with DUI (aggravating circumstances), possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, and failure to maintain insurance.

He was lodged in the Hart County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.
