If traveling through Scott County, beware of someone not affiliated with law enforcement pulling over motorists.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post that “… an unmarked gray Dodge Charger (with red and blue lights) is conducting traffic stops in Scott County.”

The Charger’s driver “fled without approaching the vehicles they stopped.” The sheriff’s office did not release how many drivers reported being pulled over by the bogus officer.

Most of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office fleet is marked with “Sheriff” on the side. The sheriff office’s unmarked fleet of vehicles have blue lights only, never red.

If you are being pulled over by a suspicious vehicle, you are well within your rights to dial 911 to confirm the legitimacy of the stop, the sheriff’s office said.
